Raton Veterinary Hospital LLC is a full service mixed animal veterinary medical facility that has been providing veterinary services to Raton, New Mexico and the surrounding area since 1961.  In addition to the hospital and 5-stall barn, we have a full service mobile unit for house/farm calls.  We strive to provide the highest quality medical and surgical care, as well as ancillary services including professional grooming and boarding services to meet the needs of our clients.   Our hospital is open 6 days a week, and we also have a veterinarian on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for emergencies after-hours.

“We strive to treat every client like family and every animal as if it were our own.”

Hospital Policies:

Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable.

Patient Arrival Policy

For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash. Occasionally the doctor will offer drop-off appointments. A 'drop off' means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave them with us for a couple of hours. Usually we will ask you to drop off' sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once the doctor is done, they will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and to give you discharge instructions. For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet.

Rabies Vaccination Policy

We require all of our cat and dog patients to be up-to-date on their Rabies vaccinations in order to protect the other patients and our staff.  New Mexico state law requires that all cats and dogs of appropriate age be vaccinated against Rabies.  If your pet is not up-to-date on his or her Rabies vaccinations, we will require your pet be vaccinated during their visit to the hospital.

Payment Policy

We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Care Credit, cash, and personal checks.
